What would a world without pasta and noodles look like? I cannot even begin to imagine a world devoid of these much loved food items. I had the same question for my kids once and for a moment the light went off their faces and I saw worried brow lines instead. But then again, they brushed it off beaming with confidence knowing such a world does not actually exist.

Homemade pesto has an unmatched quality and zest to it. If you haven’t tried your hand in making it, I think you should. Once you have made it, you’ll have the passport to an effortless weeknight meal. All you need is a food processor, some greens, some nuts, some cheese and you’ll have dinner in a presto. Toss it with a salad, serve it over some grilled fish or meat. Clearly, I haven’t come across a more versatile sauce than a pesto.

Best Shepherd’s Pie Ever

I know it’s the middle of August, peak of summer, and with the oppressive heat all around us, of all things, why a shepherd’s pie? My family has  been thriving on summery light food for days now and we have been starting to crave something really hearty and comforting. Not that we haven’t had any comforting meals lately, maybe it’s just that we were craving for some plain old meat and potatoes dinner. And for me this shepherd’s pie fits all the bills to meet those cravings.

Herbed Roasted Rack of Lamb with Baby Potatoes and Asparagus

My children’s penchant for lamb meat, combined with the fact that it is a rich source of high quality protein, many vitamins and minerals including iron, zinc and vitamin B12, are reasons enough that any cut of lamb is happily featured on our dinner table. This herbed rack of lamb is one of the most requested birthday dinners at our house. The herb crust outside with a  moist and tender meat inside always makes it a scrumptious feast for the soul, in our case a feast for two hungry growing boys. Make it a meal with a side of garlic herb roasted baby potatoes and roast asparagus. And you will end up with a five star meal eaten in the comforts of your home. No wonder, the boys’ favorite place to eat is “at home”.
