They add that nutty sweetness to the savory burgers. So if you like sweet and savory together in your food, these turkey burgers with caramelized onions recipe is for you.
I always like to use ground dark meat for my burgers, they bind well and also they are a lot more flavorful. To keep the burgers moist, I add minced onion to the meat too. Turkey burgers are notorious for being dry and bland. They need some extra boosts of flavor like a little bit of garlic, worcestershire sauce, ketchup and paprika. Grilled burgers are my all time favorite, ninety percent of the time our burgers are grilled outdoors. But here in this recipe I kept all the cooking minimal and indoors.
The caramelized onions are so crucial to these burgers. Take your time to cook the onions, stirring them frequently for 10 to 12 minutes and bask in the aroma that fills up the house. It will make you hungry for these turkey cheese burgers.
